Creating annotations inside the analytics is just as important as programmers commenting their code. It allows you to review the data years later and still remember what you were thinking at the time. I use the annotations for noting when I release certain plugins, make big changes to the website, or even run any kind of promotion on facebook or twitter.
Creating An Annotation In Google Analytics
From the visitor overview page inside of Google Analytics, You can find old annotations down on the bottom line, represented by a small icon that looks like
You can double click on any date to show the option for creating a new annotation on that specific day.
Once you’ve got the annotation box open, simply leave yourself a note and save it.
